I would love to be like those mommy bloggers who are all about giving their child beautifully hand-drawn packing lists, but come on. So here's what we're bringing:
- Toys for the wee tot #2 and Esme, including a few she gets on the plane if she starts to go stir-crazy
- A few books for both kids
- Markers, crayons and paper
- A TON of medicine - our international adoption pediatrician loaded us up with so much stuff just in case, and we can leave a lot of it with an orphanage if we don't use it
- Inflatable baby tub
- 10 outfits for the wee tot, plus pj's and swim suits in a bunch of different sizes, since we don't really know how big or small she will be
- A lot of diapers - until we restock in Guangzhou
- Cans of dried formula (a totally new experience for us)
- Can of rice cereal
- Lots of bottles, sippy cups, containers to hold things
- Gifts for Chinese officials - perfume, chocolate, and ipod shuffles (sounded very WW2 until that last one, huh?)
- Digital camera for the orphanage (they said they needed one)
- Gift from Esme to the Wee Tot #2 (WT2), and from the Wee Tot #2 to Esme (thanks mom)
- Jar of peanut butter and power bars - just in case
- Clothes and toiletries for Pete, Esme and me
- 2 iPads - one loaded with kids games, Dora, Olivia and Kai-Lan, and one grown-up one with It's Always Sunny and the Hangover
- 2 iPhones that will function as our cameras, ipods, translation devices, but not as phones
- Blankets
It all fits into this gynormous duffle bag - if I ever have to transport a field-dressed moose, I am now all set, luggage-wise.
After being really nervous for the past few days, I am now getting into the spirit of it and excited. We're going to China - weeee!
